Yeah, mine freezes all the time, but that might be because I'm using a cracked copy for PC.

well I wasn't planning on getting the PC version. More concerned about the 360 version.

Laird:

My friend said he downloaded a fix from the same guy he got the cracked copy from .. try lowering the graphics settings first, and if it still crashes, try the patch.

Having just completed the game, I can safely say:

Fuck Fallout 3. What an overrated piece of shit game. As an FPS, it's total garbage and as an RPG, it's also total garbage. Combine them and you get something just slightly better. OK, I'm being a overly harsh, it's still a decent game, but it's very clearly not the epic masterpiece it's being hyped up to be. The entire time I was playing, I had a sense of disappointment, that is, when I wasn't swearing at the game because of the sheer fucking tedium of anything you try to do in the game. However, I still had a pretty favorable view of the game... and then the endings... dear fucking god. rehashing everything I just spent the last 25 hours doing is not a goddamn ending. That was the tipping point: from mere disappointment to complete waste of time.

To answer the concern about the level cap:

I was level 18 when I beat it and my guy was sufficiently bad ass. If I had waited around until level 20, I would have maxed all the skills I cared about and I would have ended up with about 3 perks more than I needed for my character. I deliberately made my guy a glass cannon (lots of damage, little hp), but I was so loaded down with stimpaks that there was nothing that could kill me and I could two-shot even the most difficult mobs in the game.

All the DLC is half off (400 MS pts) today on Live Marketplace. Point Lookout is my personal favorite (killing Rednecks = win) but this a pretty good deal for anybody looking to get back into the game (costing $25 for all the DLC instead of $50)
